my village and people.

Small description of my village

The name of my village is Radhi. It is situated under Zhemgang District (one of the district in the country). My village is separated from other villages by one of biggest river called Chamkhar chhu in the Bhutan. The village is very old and has a number of special features.
Although it faces flood during some summer season, the geographical feature of the village has not altered. It is believed that Sepong Lhakhang which is the oldest temple who is the village deity protects this village in all kinds of disaster. Another specialty of this village is that there is no other religion existed and all the people in ours village follows Buddhism.
The main occupation of our villagers is cultivation. Our village has a good name for serial production especially maize. All kinds of seasonal vegetables are available in good quality.

I knew why people called KAUWAN during auspicious day.

.It is a small village with only twenty two households. Its population is about one hundred only. It looks green as there are many green trees in our village. The temple of Lord Pelden Lhamo, Sepong Lhakhang is situated above the village. Mostly women from each household visits Sepong Lhakhang to offers butter lambs and praying to Lord Pelden Lhamo for their wellbeing especially during auspicious days .In my village people used to say KUAWAN to the auspicious day and usually most of the man from each household goes down to the valley called Nyemsala in search for fire cone.
When I was a little boy, I heard my elders talking today is KUAWAN, but I didn’t knew the inner meaning of the KUAWAN. My father used to carry one bamboo basket on his back and ax on his shoulder and walk downwards the valley called Nyensala along with his friends. Whole day I used to miss him a lot, but he returns the home towards the end of the day with basketful of fire cone. In my mother tongue we used to call KUAWAN. This was a condition in my villages where people were busy scheduled every day and didn’t have time to collect fire cone to support their families from darkness of evening. Therefore they schedule the collection of fire cone during auspicious day.
Yesterday night, I can’t sleep properly and was reflecting my childhood world and I try to relate my style of being child and now. I couldn’t relate any, but at end of my dreaming I came to knew why villagers called KUAWAN to the auspicious day. This is the hardship our villagers is still facing. Hope, soon electricity line will be there and make our village
